About The Breed

What are the characteristics of Bengals?

Bengals are not only beautiful as they look exotic with the resemblance of leopards, they are very affectionate, intelligent and fun-loving! They are as affectionate as dogs and love human companionship as they will greet their humans at the door and are always following their humans around the house, even to the bathroom, yet they require less maintenance than dogs. You can leash train them and bring them for walks or bring them outdoors for an adventure! You can train them to perform tricks such as fetch, sit, hi-5.

What is the average weight of an adult Bengal cat?

Male Bengal usually weigh between 6 to 6.5kg, while female Ragdolls are between 4.5 to 5kg.

How long do Bengals live?

The lifespan of a well maintained Bengal is about 14 to 16 years.

Are Bengals suitable for homes with young children and seniors?

Bengals’ loving nature is good with children and seniors. We do advise adults to watch over the children when they are with the cats; any breed of cats, not just Bengals and to remind them to be as gentle as possible when handling them. Bengals are funny and fun-loving. They bring lots of joy to families with children and seniors.

Are Bengals suitable for first time cat owners?

Most people have the wrong perception that Bengals are too wild. Don’t be deceived by their wild looks. Bengals are domestic cats that are very docile and affectionate. Most of our customers are first time cat owners and they fell deeply in love with this intelligent breed. Moreover, our cats are brought up in a loving environment which has made them well-socialized and confident.

Are Bengals too high energy and require a large living space?

Having quality spaces and a variety of spaces are more important than having a large living space. A well designed room with vertical climbing features installed or a window view for instance is better than a large empty space. Cat condos and cat poles with scratching sisal robes where they can climb, play, scratch and rest are good.

What should I do if I am a cat owner that works long hours and has a busy lifestyle?

If you work long hours, you can consider having two cats so that they have a companion and a playmate when no one is at home. If you can only keep one, you may get them interactive toys and they will self-entertain. We do advise customers to spend at least 30 mins with them daily. Like humans, they need love and companionship. You may just let them sit on your lap and knead while you watch your favorite TV programmes!

Will Bengal destroy my furniture?

With appropriate scratching material around, they rarely scratch anything else. So it is important to provide appropriate scratching material for them. Scratching posts, cardboard scratching pads, sisal mats etc. would be good.

When are your kittens neutered/spayed and why must they be sterilized?

They are usually neutered/spayed at 4 months old once they weigh 2kg. Male cats can become very territorial, aggressive, and start marking their territory with urine while females in heat may continually yelp and howl incessantly. Neutering/spaying cats has many health benefits and also decreases the chances of your cat getting testicular/prostate/ovarian cancer.

Cat Care and Maintenance

How much does it cost to maintain a cat?

Even with our quality raw food, each cat would cost about $300 to $350 a month to maintain your cat including the cost for litter, monthly application of Revolution and deworming (to be done every 3 months).
