History of Ragdoll Cats & Bengal Cats
The Ragdoll breed was developed in the 1960s by cat breeder Anne Baker using free-roaming cats in her neighborhood. She set out to start a breeding program and all Ragdolls are descendants of the original litter. She even set up her own agency, however, as time went on, she grew eccentric, and other breeders distanced themselves in attempts to try and maintain the integrity of the breed.
The first Bengal crossbreed, between the spotted Egyptian Mau and the Asian Leopard Cat, was created by Jean Mill in 1963. But, the hybrid was not perfected until the mid-1980s. It is the only domestic breed of cat that has rosette markings.
Description of Ragdoll Cats & Bengal Cats
The Ragdoll breed is large and heavy-boned. It has a soft, silky coat and remarkable blue eyes. Ragdolls are relaxed, calm, and easygoing cats. They are active, but not overly energetic and enjoy being petted, pampered, and carried out. They physically collapse in joy at being cherished and indulged by their human partners. This friendly cat gets along well with kids and other household pets, creating a wonderful family pet. They can even be trained to use a leash.
The Bengal is a medium to large-sized cat and is generally quite long, lean, and muscular. They can weigh up to 7 kg, and as low shedders, they are believed to be a hypoallergenic cat breed. In terms of temperament, they are energetic, smart, playful, and love being around water. Bengals can form strong bonds with their human family, becoming affectionate and loyal.
Characteristics of Ragdolls & Bengals

Grooming needs of Ragdolls & Bengals
Ragdolls have beautiful silky long coats that need to be brushed twice a week.
Bengals on the other hand do not require much grooming as they have short fur which needs combing only every fortnight.
Owners of Ragdolls and Bengals would need to clean their eyes, ears and mouth once a week. In addition, their nails should be trimmed every fortnight. To maintain their dental health, it will be a good practice to brush their teeth daily and get the Vet to check their teeth and gum yearly.
Cats hardly require a shower as they groom themselves every day unless they accidentally soiled themselves.
